Music quote:

Music is the incorporeal entrance into the higher world of knowledge which comprehends mankind but which mankind cannot comprehend. -- Ludwig van Beethoven

Fact of the day:

Everyone has heard the term "Dolby". What you may not know is what it actually means. Named after the inventor Ray Dolby, this concept revolutionized the audio recording industry in the 1960’s. The Dolby system electronically reduced the unwanted "hiss" and "sizz" from analog tape sound recording creating a clearer, crisper sound. The Dolby system sound passes through a switchless, knobless encoder as it is recorded then played back through decoder, dramatically lowering back round noise with no inherent "side effects" in the process. Never had this been done before. By 1967 the Dolby system was industry standard. Since the late 70’s it has become standard in most films. Ray Dolby was born in Portland, Oregon, and is still alive today.

Music trivia:

If you happen to be the first person to respond via email correctly to our trivia then we will grant you a $25 gift card… What does the term ‘Macrodynamics’ mean?
